Welcome Hero,
If you’ve found your way to our page, you have most likely received a detoxification program from the First Responder Wellness Project (FRWP). First and most importantly, thank you. For keeping us safe, and for tirelessly supporting our communities every day. The job that you do is extraordinary and does not go unnoticed.
Our initiative came together with the intention of giving back to you in some small way. While our programs are an initial step for you to take, we hope that you will find resources here that will continue to support you in the years to come. Our trusted colleagues are here to help, so please reach out if you have any questions before you begin or throughout your program.
Your Detoxification Program
Your kit is curated to support not only detoxification but also your immune and nervous systems, which when balanced, help your body repair from the toxic exposure and stress that often come with firefighting. Inside the kit, you'll find a list of supplements included in our programs, each selected to enhance detoxification and strengthen your overall resilience. The items checked off are specific to your personalized protocol—please follow the provided dosing instructions.
Initial Protocol & Potential Side Effects
This detoxification program is designed as an initial 14-20 day protocol (depending on your kit), with the goal of jumpstarting your recovery.
Detoxing can be a powerful process but is generally considered very safe when followed carefully. It is common to experience symptoms such as fatigue, brain fog and headaches through the first week, as you release toxins from your cells to be broken down and cleared out by your body. Symptoms are generally short-lived and will often subside after the first few days. Increased hydration during this period is key, to provide your lymphatic system the support that it needs to flush these toxins.
Because of this potential, we often suggest starting this program one to two before having multiple days off, so that you can take the time to rest and move though this initial phase without additional stress.
It is also highly encouraged that you stick to a paleo style diet during this program. Toxins are mainly stored in our fat tissue, and in order to release toxins from our tissues, your body needs to burn that fat for energy. Carbohydrates limit this process as the body will use carbohydrates for energy before using fat cells.
Additional Ways to Support Your Detox
Hydrate! Drink at least 100 ounces of water daily
Prioritize sleep and getting 7-8 hours each day
Eliminate simple carbohydrates and sugar to optimize detox (these will hold toxins in the cells)
Eliminate alcohol
Reduce caffeine (Don’t panic! We know caffeine is a staple for many, but do your best to limit to a cup daily when possible.)
Prioritize organic, whole foods, and clean ingredients whenever possible
Increase protein 2-3 times daily
Increase dark leafy greens 2-3 time daily
Increase exercise as sweating is essential for detox (saunas are helpful too!)
If you’ve gotten this far, you’re ready to start your program!
Thank you again for everything you do for our communities. Our goal is to be an ally for your health now and in the future. For additional information on detox, specific supplements, our partners and trusted providers, and how to stay healthy in the future, please come back to our page in the next week as we will be expanding our site to include additional the resources. If you have any questions or need additional support, don’t hesitate to reach out at firstresponderwellnessproject@gmail.com.
With deep gratitude.

HOW DETOXIFICATION WORKS:
Your body goes through three distinct phases of detoxification to process and eliminate harmful substances. Each phase plays a crucial role in clearing toxins from your system and supporting long-term recovery. The supplements provided in your kit will support each of these phases to help reduce the toxic burden in your body.
The Three Phases of Detoxification
Phase 1: The Activation Phase
In this phase, your body breaks down toxins into more water-soluble compounds using enzymes in the liver. While this is a critical step, it can also sometimes produce even more toxic substances that need to be processed further before they can be safely eliminated.
Phase 2: The Conjugation Phase
During this phase, the metabolites from Phase 1 are combined with substances like glutathione or amino acids to make them water-soluble. This helps prepare them for excretion through urine or bile, ensuring that harmful byproducts are safely eliminated.
Phase 3: Elimination
The final phase involves the removal of toxins from the body via the bile, urine, or sweat. Toxins that have been processed in earlier phases are excreted, though some may be reabsorbed if digestive health or hydration is compromised.
How Detox Supplements Work Together for Recovery
When combined, the detox supplements provided in your kit create a powerful support system to help you recover physically and mentally from the intense toll of firefighting. The antioxidants in Vitamin C, Glutathione, and NAC work to neutralize free radicals and reduce inflammation caused by toxic exposure, while Magnesium and Binders support the body’s natural detox process and help ease muscle tension. Quercetin enhances immune function and reduces oxidative stress, and B12 boosts energy and combats fatigue.
Together, these nutrients support your body’s recovery at every level—restoring strength, clarity, and resilience so you can continue your critical work with full energy and health.
PHASE 1: The Activation Phase
In Phase 1, your body breaks down toxins into water-soluble compounds using enzymes in the liver. This step is essential for removing harmful chemicals, though the byproducts created can sometimes be even more toxic and need further processing.
Key Supplements for Phase 1:
Glutathione
Known as the "master antioxidant," glutathione helps detoxify the body and supports liver function.
Dose/Frequency: 250–500 mg, 1–2 times per day.
Contraindications: Avoid if on medications that affect the liver (e.g., certain chemotherapy drugs).Phosphatidylcholine
Supports liver detoxification and cell membrane repair, helping to protect the cells from damage caused by oxidative stress.
Dose/Frequency: 300–500 mg, once or twice daily with meals.Quercetin
A powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant, quercetin supports immune function and reduces oxidative stress.
Dose/Frequency: 500 mg, 1–2 times per day.
Contraindications: May interact with blood thinners (e.g., warfarin). Consult your healthcare provider.Vitamin C
A vital antioxidant that helps reduce inflammation and supports the immune system.
Dose/Frequency: 500–1000 mg, 1–2 times per day.
Contraindications: High doses may interact with some medications (e.g., chemotherapy agents).
PHASE 2: The Conjugation Phase
During Phase 2, the body combines the breakdown products from Phase 1 with substances like glutathione and amino acids, making them water-soluble and easier to excrete.
Key Supplements for Phase 2:
NAC (N-Acetyl Cysteine)
Supports lung health and detoxification, helping reduce damage caused by smoke inhalation.
Dose/Frequency: 600–1200 mg, 1–2 times per day.
Contraindications: Should be avoided by individuals with asthma unless approved by a doctor.B12
Essential for energy production and mental clarity, combating fatigue and supporting cognitive function.
Dose/Frequency: 500–1000 mcg, once per day.
Contraindications: Consult your healthcare provider if on diabetes medications.Sulforaphane
Neutralizes harmful chemicals and reduces oxidative stress.
Dose/Frequency: 200–400 mcg, once per day.
PHASE 3: Elimination
The final phase is the elimination of toxins from the body through the bile, urine, and sweat.
Key Supplements for Phase 3:
Probiotics
Supports gut health and enhances digestion, helping eliminate toxins and prevent their reabsorption.
Dose/Frequency: 1–2 capsules, once per day.Liver, Lung, and Lymphatic Tinctures
Aid in detoxification by supporting the liver, promoting lung repair, and helping the lymphatic system drain waste.
Dose/Frequency: 15–30 drops in water, 1–3 times per day.
Contraindications: Consult a healthcare provider if on liver or lung medication.Magnesium
Eases muscle tension and improves sleep quality, supporting physical and mental recovery.
Dose/Frequency: 250–500 mg, 1–2 times per day (preferably at night).
Contraindications: Avoid with certain medications like diuretics or antibiotics.
